After 42 years as an employee of Taylor Roofing, Steve Michalke has retired.  Michalke served the company tirelessly throughout his career and served as the Vice President of Estimating on his retirement.  He joined Jim Taylor, Inc. in 1972 as an apprentice roofer and achieved journeyman in 1975.  He was promoted to foreman soon after and spent 17 years supervising roof installations and repairs. In 1989, Steve was promoted to the position of Estimator and took over the position of Vice President in 2011.

Besides continuing his work on estimating re-roofing job and new construction, he was responsible for overseeing project bidding by other estimators for the company.  With his vast knowledge of the roofing industry and years of experience, he was an employee that would volunteer to help clients evaluate their needs; train field personnel, and work with the staff to explain the answers to difficult questions as they arise.  Time and again, Steve was able to find a solution to a difficult roofing problem.

Prior to his retirement, Taylor Roofing’s owner and President Catherine Taylor Yank honored Steve with a luncheon attended by many of the manufacturer representative he had work with over his forty-two year career.  With one of his favorite activities being golf, his fellow employees kept him stocked with golf balls and gift cards to some of his favorite places.

Taylor Roofing salutes Steve Michalke for his year of service and his commitment to excellence in the roofing industry.  We wish you the best on your retirement!
